No matter what the age of our children, it's very easy to think we're listening when we really aren't! Have you really stopped to check in with your child? Have you paid attention to their body language? What they said and how they said it? Try to ask open ended questions instead of ones that just end in yes or no. If your teenager, or toddler doesn't want to talk, let it be. Try to engage them in some simple activity. Make dinner together, do a chore together, or something simple like this.
